There was a time when The Warning was called an "up-and-coming" band—or "the future of rock." I'd argue those labels no longer fit. They're here now, and in a big way. They're not the future of rock—they are the face of modern rock. The Warning Army (TWA), their rabid and loyal fan base, has a saying: "Live is their superpower." But more on that later. Let's start at the beginning.
The Warning: You’ve Been Warned — Band Review

The Early Years
The Warning is a trio of sisters from Mexico -
Daniella (Dany) Villarreal - guitar, vocals
Paulina (Pau) Villarreal - drums, vocals
Alejandra (Ale) Villarreal - bass guitar, backing vocals
The sisters are all classically trained pianists and attended the Berklee College of Music Summer Program. After playing the video game Rock Band, they decided that's what they wanted to do for a living. They formed the band back in 2013 as kids, inspired by those Rock Band jams—Dany on guitar, Pau on drums, and Ale (the youngest) jumping in on bass at just 8 or so. Thirteen years later, those basement sessions have turned into a full-on force in modern rock.
A lot has happened for The Warning between 2013 and 2026, but this is a review, not a book, so let's proceed.
If you really want a snapshot of where they started and where they are, I invite you to watch these two videos - in order, of course (if you really want your mind blown). The top is their original cover of Metallica's Enter Sandman. This is the video that went viral and started their career. The bottom is them covering the song in their Pepsi Center concert which was posted in 2024.
The Warning has been very busy, and for only being in their early to mid 20's already have 2 EPs, 4 studio albums, 1 live album, and a concert movie to be released on Blu-Ray in April of '26. A 5th studio album is expected in 2026 as well, and I am most certain there will be a Sonic Pulse Review on that when it drops.
TWA will tell you there are no bad The Warning songs, but some of the fan favorites are Survive (XXI Century Blood), Dust to Dust (Queen of the Murder Scene), Evolve and Martirio (Error), Escapism and Sharks (Keep Me Fed).

As good as each of the studio albums are, as I mentioned earlier, live is their super power. They have developed a strong reputation among fans, critics and peers alike for their powerful, emotional, energetic and fun live performances. Each of the three have a powerful stage presence, with their differing personalities shining through. It's powerful because it's genuine. They truly love what they do and it shows.
A great stage presence can only take you so far, though. The music is the star. Dany, Pau, and Ale are each masters of their craft—true rockers who skip pitch correction on vocals, deliver powerful bass lines that stay front and center in the mix, and feature a multi-award-winning drummer. Dany gives her live performances that little extra grit in the vocals, and takes on the character of the songs she sings. And one can't have a discussion about The Warning without talking about harmony. There is always something special about sibling harmonies, but these sisters take it to the next level. It is nothing short of beautiful. When they get the 3-part harmonies going you can't help but smile.
Together, they become a force of nature on stage. Don't just take my word for it though. Here are a couple of pro-shot live performances to get you started. So now, as a young Pau herself once said, and has become part of band lore - You've been Warned!
